the girl

Pay no attention to the girl behind the curtain.
About: Stephanie Carmichael rocks the writing page from her home in Pennsylvania. A big fan of all things geek, she grew up playing games like The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers on the NES and soon moved into the world of PlayStation. She was hooked with her first PS1 game, Crash Bandicoot 2. A lover of RPG, action-adventure, platform, and horror games—and a self-proclaimed Silent Hill nerd to boost—some of Stephanie’s favorite games and series include Crash Bandicoot, Legend of Legaia, Resident Evil, Jak, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Brothers, StarTropics, Threads of Fate, Prince of Persia, and Guilty Gear. At heart, she’s a PlayStation girl with a guilty pleasure of Nintendo on the side.
At twenty and studying English literature, Stephanie currently spends her free time writing a science-fiction/fantasy novel whose pages she hopes will live to see the light of day. After she graduates, she plans to write full-time for a magazine or website—finding an outlet in the video game, comic book, or movie industry. She enjoys reading, listening to alternative rock, drinking coffee, blogging/writing, playing with her cats, gaming, watching movies, and catching up with TV series. She’s also fond of Star Wars, science fiction and fantasy, and for some weird reason, songs about Superman.

Resume: Stephanie currently writes for OneMetal, a website dedicated to covering comics, video games, movies, music, and more. She also writes weekly comics articles for Impulse Creations, contributes to the quickly growing gaming website Spawn Kill, and submits regular articles to RadNerd.
From spring of 2008 to December 2009, Stephanie wrote full-time for the Girls Entertainment Network. She worked her way up to Comics Editor and Comic Games Specialist—gaining experience in dealing with public relations and networking, managing the comics section and staff, and conducting interviews. She attended San Diego Comic-Con 2009 as press and organized the week-long GEN Eisners feature, which tied together months of work. Stephanie’s self-taught knowledge of her photo-editing program of choice has led to the development of her fully self-designed version 2.0 blog, which was coded by Curtis McHale.
She continues to interview industry professionals such as Damian Beurer, Christine Caton, Ron Marz, the Luna Brothers, Jesse Reklaw, Dustin Nguyen, Greg Pak, Paul Dini, Stephanie Gladden, Dan Panosian, David Doub, Christopher Preksta, Peter David, Randy Queen, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Phil Hester, Kevin Conroy, Sefton Hill, Zack Snyder, Jay Boor, Tom Pinchuk, Tony Trov, Johnny Zito, Sacha Borisich, Joe Brusha, Raven Gregory, Karl Moline, Brandon Wilt, Heather White, Steve Lieber, and Jeff Parker.
She previously wrote for a project called ComicNerd, contributed to Bill Ramey’s Batman-On-Film, and was asked to write a guest feature article for Hollywire.
Contact: Stephanie is always looking for new work. Feel free to email her about writing gigs (preferably paid, if available) or review copies for submission—or if you’d just like to drop her a line with friendly comments, suggestions, or questions!
