Na-na Na-na Na-na Na-na RIINGTOOONE!

Na-na Na-na Na-na Na-na RIINGTOOONE!

First off, yes—I know the campy 60s Batman theme doesn’t belong to Marvel. Batman is a DC property. But since I constantly seem to hear people singing that song on a whim, I figured it has to be one of, if not the most familiar comic theme song ever. And everyone who sings it is either a nerd or just a dork.

So I guess I thought it was fitting to make an homage to it in the title of my Marvel/Vringo article over at RadNerd. Why are video ringtones like t-shirts? Go find out, my friends.

At any rate, the for shame’s are justified. But “ringtone” has the same number of syllables as “Bat-Man.” I know, I know …

Straight from the Merc’s Mouth: Interview with Daniel Way

Straight from the Merc's Mouth: Interview with Daniel Way

If you haven’t been reading Deadpool, or you’ve been wondering whether it’s worth picking up—you should, and it is. Daniel Way brings new life to the character and rebooted a series that now makes me laugh out loud on a monthly basis. Few comics do that for me, and Deadpool knocks ‘em flat.

You can read my interview with Way over at the Girls Entertainment Network. It’s full of Merc, and thus … awesome.

SDCC09: Day 4 Wrap-Up

Last day in San Diego

Last day in San Diego

My last day at San Diego Comic-Con consisted mostly of saying goodbye to a lot of great people: the GEN crew, David LeVack, Beau Ryan, Leo Camacho, Rick Basaldua, Archaia’s Mel Caylo, Top Cow’s Filip Sablik, and more. Joined by my friend Josh, I spent most of the day really exploring the floor and doing a bit of shopping—something I really never had a chance to do the days prior.

Although one of my scheduled appointments didn’t pull through, I did meet someone I’ve been talking to on Twitter for awhile now: Ryan Penagos, aka Agent_M. After the Marvel games panel—where games like Ultimate Alliance 2, Iron Man 2, and Superhero Squad were showcased (topped off with the adorable Little Big Planet announcement of Wolverine, Captain America, and Iron Man sackboys)—I met Ryan and we talked for a few minutes.

Josh and I walked around some more, browsing through Artists’ Alley, where I met and got Scott Williams’ autograph and talked with Steve Ellis (who did a great werewolf sketch for me) earlier in the day. Mel Caylo introduced me to some Archaia creators, who were nice enough to give me some comics of theirs to check out. In addition to buying my first Mighty Mugg (Wolverine), I picked up the first issue of Mercy Sparx (from Devil Due’s Publishing) and the artist signed my copy. The floor closed a few hours earlier than usual, and dinner consisted of a spicy chicken sandwich and PinkBerry for dessert.

Who says eleven-year-olds can’t Kick Ass?

This is one stunningly kick-ass photo if I’ve ever seen one.

Matthew Vaughn presents Hit Girl

Matthew Vaughn dishes out another teaser for his upcoming Kick-Ass big screen adaptation: a photo of Chloe Moretz as the infamous Hit Girl, aka Mindy Macready.

San Diego Comic-Con International will be announcing its day-by-day, full panel run-down next week, but /Film confirms that the first footage of Kick-Ass will be revealed at this year’s Con—specifically on Thursday, July 23, near the end of the day. I personally can’t wait to join fans in drooling over the stunts and action.

What do you think of Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl?

Ten Reasons Why Messing with Reality Gets Everyone Screwed

Ten Reasons Why Messing with Reality Gets Everyone Screwed

Be disturbed ... be very disturbed.

The last “top ten” article I wrote was when I compared Resident Evil and comics for RE week over at the Girls Entertainment Network, and needless to say, I had a ridiculously fun time with it. Probably more than any sane person should. But hey, the article generated a good response, so who cares?

Now you can enjoy the time-traveling, reality-shifting horrors of the Marvel and DC universes in “Ten Reasons Why Messing with Reality Gets Everyone Screwed”—which has quite a bit more meat on its bones than “RE: Your Universe.” Leave a comment over there and let me know what you think of it! And if you have any crazy suggestions for future lists, don’t hesitate to throw ‘em out there.

Anyway, here’s a little extra. Originally I was going to use this as the article’s feature header … and then I remembered feature headers are considerably bigger and smacked myself in the forehead. But it’s still funny, so it would be a shame not to share it.
