With zombies, it’s fun for your lives

A group of running enthusiasts in Baltimore, Maryland, have decided that completing a 5K marathon isn’t difficult enough. They’ve turned their obstacle course into zombie territory.
Runners begin with a set number of flags, and each represents one unit of health. To be eligible for prizes later on, participants must not only finish the race in an acceptable time limit with at least one flag intact, but also avoid the flag-filching zombies and overcome the obstacles laid out before them. Runners also have multiple paths to contend with, so a wrong decision could mean an extra 5K, give or take.
Players must successfully deal with all obstacles if they want their fair chance at prizes, and some of the challenges they’ll encounter are the Terrible Tubes (navigate a sewage system, stealthily) and the Finish Line (cross the fence).
Compared with the high requirements for completion, the prizes are neck-and-neck with bragging rights:
- A Warwear performance tee
- Racing Bib complete with number (we know you always wanted one)
- Medals to signify your survival (or zombie transformation) (all runners get a medal)
- One free beer
- Admittance to the Apocalypse Party (with eight live bands, celebrity appearances, an awards ceremony, vendors, and more)
- Advanced training for the actual Zombie Apocalypse, date TBD
More rules and info can be found at the official website. Registration is open until October 1. More locations are coming soon. Can you survive the apocalypse? It sounds like one hell of a party. That makes me wonder: do you think zombies prefer the taste of beer-flavored brains?
